Crush on the Magic

A blog by Blair Crush, Wicked Mouse Travel

As a Walt Disney World resort guest, you have access to complimentary transportation to/from all the Walt Disney World theme parks and Disney Springs. Thus, it can be very easy to get around the resort without a vehicle. Where you stay at Walt Disney World matters. What you are planning to do while visiting this 40+ square mile resort, is key and can be a huge part of the consideration of where you lay your head at night.

If you are needing resort to resort transfers, you will need to consider the proximity of each resort (can you walk between the two or do the resorts share buses?) as there are no bus transfers between resorts. If you have a specific dining reservation and no car, your best option may be Disney’s Minnie Van service, Uber or Lyft. Ask your travel professional for guidance when planning your reservations and logistics. This is one the one many things an experienced advisor can do to help make your trip magical!

Even with a car on site (which there is no parking fee for resort guests with a Walt Disney World resort hotel stay), Disney transportation is often the easiest and most convenient way to get to the parks. Magic Kingdom requires significant transportation steps when parking (and can add almost an hour on your entrance into the park. Again, consult your travel advisor (hopefully me!) to help guide you on your vacation logistics.

Special Transfer Considerations:

Water park transfers usually require you to take a bus to Disney Springs and then the water park. Check your resort bus times and information to see if there are any running the the water parks. Otherwise, plan to go to Disney Springs for a bus to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. You can also elect to use Minnie Van Service (in the Lyft app for a fee), Lyft or Uber.

To visit special places, like Hoop Dee Doo Music Revue, you would need to take a boat transfer from Magic Kingdom or take a Minnie Van. Otherwise, you’d need to use bus transportation from a park or Disney Springs to Ft. Wilderness and then use their internal bus system, which can make the process of getting to the show much slower. Traditional Uber and Lyft services DO NOT have access to the back of Ft. Wilderness, where Hoop Dee Doo is located.
