This Spring Break season has sprung with bountiful news from Walt Disney World, Disneyland and Universal Orlando Resorts.

Policy Updates: Disney announced that it would allow guests to remove masks while stationary and taking photos. This includes photos with Disney’s PhotoPass Photographers. Always check the latest updates on policies and experiences directly via the Walt Disney World website.


Disneyland is scheduled and preparing for it’s limited capacity re-opening beginning April 30th. This is awesome news for residents of California! Currently, Disneyland is only open to guests from California and via reservation system, similar to Walt Disney World. To read more about Disneyland re-opening, click here.

Additionally, Disneyland Resort announced it will be opening Avengers Campus on June 4th! This is thrilling news to Disney California Adventure Park. Marvel fans rejoice–as this is the first (and huge) step for integrating the Marvel Universe into the Disney Parks and Resorts.

Universal Orlando Resort

The long-awaited opening date for VelociCoaster, Universal Orlando Resort’s newest roller coaster, has been announced. June 10th will be opening day for VelociCoaster, located in Jurassic World, in Universal Island’s of Adventure.

Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World released a sneak peak of the newly reimagined resort rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort as well as announced the that Club Cool would be returning this summer to EPCOT. Adjacent to the new marketplace, the Creation Shop, a new shopping experience that will be opening near the front of EPCOT in the former Mouse Gear location.

As previously announced, Walt Disney World has already begun the process of making updates to the popular and original attraction, Jungle Cruise. Updates will be phased over a period of time but no specific timeline has been set.

Additionally, in preparation for Walt Disney World’s 50th celebration, kicking off October 1, 2021, Cinderella Castle’s celebratory decor is being installed . The process started in March and is still in progress.

Disney MagicMobile

Another addition to Disney ticketing is digital access via the newly launched MagicMobile. If you are an Apple iPhone and/or Apple Watch user, you can now load your digital wallet. The service is also planned for Android and scheduled to drop in late April/early May. Similar to a MagicBand, MagicMobile will allow guests to scan into the parks with their iPhones or Apple Watch, as well as be able to be used to verify information when taking photos with PhotoPass photographers. MagicMobile can also be used for unlocking your door at Disney resorts.

EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival dates announced

Walt Disney World released the dates and a few details regarding this year’s EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival. The festival will begin July 15 and run through November 20. This is just 10 days after wrapping the International Flower and Garden Festival. For up to date details, check out the festival page.

MEARS Connect

Mears Transportation Group announced recently that they would be offering a shuttle service to Walt Disney World Resorts, beginning January 1, 2022, when Disney’s Magical Express service is scheduled to discontinue. Disney has advised that anyone arriving prior to January 1 and departing by January 10th will still receive complimentary service; however, Disney has not released any statements about the transportation offerings or commented on the Mears announcement. Additionally, no pricing has been released from Mears regarding the new MEARS Connect service. Similar to Magical Express, this service would be provided for arrivals and departures to Orlando International Airport (MCO).
